Megaupload has two weeks of grace to fix the situation of the data from 50 million users, or it will be destroyed.
Megaupload was a bookstore where people stored, shared and experienced cultural properties which they themselves also produced: both consumers and producers of music, books and movies. Much of this material does not belong to the users who posted it.
The destruction of data Megaupload, in addition to being probably millions of violations of intellectual property rights of many users who used Megaupload to distribute their creations outside the corporatist regime of intellectual property also means the destruction of a cultural archive.
