South America in the FIFA ranking

Spain continues to lead the standings. Uruguay, which is in fourth place, is the best placed South American country.

The Spanish football team, current world champion remains at the forefront of the FIFA ranking, according to the standings released Wednesday.

 

According to world soccer's governing body, The Netherlands (2), Germany (3), Uruguay (4), England (5), Brazil (6), Portugal (7), Croatia (8), Italy (9) and Argentina (10) complete the top ten places in the chart. The greatest novelty of the ranking in January, which remained unchanged in the first eleven places, is the rise of Chile to the position number 12.

 

The Peruvian team, meanwhile, rose as compared to December and now ranks 34th in the ranking with 712 points. Colombia-Peru's next opponent in qualifying rounds, is at position 35 with 709 points.
