Bern .- Cuba remained the number one team in world ranking of baseball, announced the International Federation of the sport (IBAF) today.
Despite a 2011 of hardly memorable meets, without titles in first-class events, the Cuban team was able to stay on top ahead of the United States, South Korea and Japan, who are second, third and fourth, respectively.
Cuba was runner up in the Baseball World Cup XXXIX , held in Panama from 1 to 15 October. That tournament was won by the Netherlands, a nation that rose to fifth place ranking in the world.
Behind the current champions are located Canada, pan American champion, are Taipei China, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, in that order.
This global list was developed by taking into account all competitions scheduled by the IBAF, and includes the results of the tournaments at all levels.
