The Senate of Uruguay approved the energy security agreement with Venezuela, whose validity is provided for 10 years automatically deferrable periods of five years, reported the Foreign Ministry.
According to a communiqué, the bill reaffirms the principles of solidarity, complementarity and sovereignty in the use of natural resources and installs a South American view, promoting regional energy integration. The text states the objective to develop a broad and sustained process of integration and cooperation in this sector, and establishes as focal points: oil, gas, electricity, alternative energy and saving between the two countries, emphasized the source.The protocol sanctioned by the legislators of this country contains much of the Guidelines of Energy Strategy, designed by the Uruguayan ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining, according to the communication.
The lines of work have diversification of sources and origins of energy, integration in the hydrocarbon chain, efficiency, use of indigenous sources and economic development as main pillars, he added.
