On Sunday, the National Action Party (PAN) Senatorial leader, José González Morfín, urged the Senate to pass several reforms that have been put on hold for a long time. “This has to happen before the presidential election,” he said.

He pointed out that the celebration of the Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution should be reason enough to force the federal government to analyze and study new ways to change Mexico. "There is only one conclusion we must reach after passing the reforms and that is improving the way this country is governed,” The Senator said.

“Mexico has to take the necessary steps to change its future for the better. We have to change our legal system and pass the reforms that the country so direly needs and focus on the best interests of our people. There is no place for partisan deals or personal agendas. Everything we do, we should do for the well-being of society,” he noted.

González Morfín said that this is the perfect time to implement a series of changes that Mexico, not only demands, but needs to build a future of equality.

“This is the time for a new democracy. A democracy that is modern and effective,” the PAN Senator stressed. “Let the Anniversary of our revolution be a source of inspiration. That event alone changed the face of Mexican history. We should feel just as motivated to change our present,” he concluded.
