SCT invests in the Infrastructure Year

The SCT has allocated $25 billion pesos in 14 States in the first month of the Year of the Infrastructure.

The National Plan for Infrastructure (PNI) envisages an investment of $212,638 billion pesos for the period from 2007 to 2012 to build the next 13,710 kilometers of new means of transport and communication in Mexico. The federal government has appointed 2012 as the Infrastructure Year, with this has been announced, in January, an investment of over $25 billion pesos, in different states of the country such as: Jalisco, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Puebla, Oaxaca, Aguascalientes, Tlaxcala, Durango, Veracruz, Guerrero, Baja California, Quintana Roo and Yucatan.

Infrastructure works in the states are concentrated in: construction and modernization of federal roads, conservation of federal highways, rural roads and feeder roads. It is calculated that there are works in over 7,000 kilometers of highways and roads in the country.

Mexico will invest in 2012, in infrastructure of:

$3,321.4 billion pesos in Veracruz

$2,751.3 billion pesos in Jalisco

$2, 463 billion pesos in Oaxaca

$2, 256 billion pesos in Campeche

$2,149.6 billion pesos in Durango

$1,965 billion pesos in Nayarit

$1,950 billion pesos in Puebla

$1,747.7 billion pesos in Guerrero

$1,514 billion pesos in Yucatán

$1,431.9 billion pesos in Sinaloa

$1,379 billion pesos in Baja California

$1,093.6 billion pesos in Quintana Roo

$ 856.3 million pesos Aguascalientes

$ 940.1 million pesos in Tlaxcala

In addition, road infrastructure works will generate over 6,000 direct and indirect jobs, in the various Mexican states.

According to data from the World Economic Forum, Mexico is ranked 64th in infrastructure of global competitiveness, in the list of 125 countries.

Regarding sectors level, Mexico is ranked in 65th place in railways, 64th in ports, 55th in airports, 73rd in electricity, 51st in telecommunications and 49th on roads.

The goal established by the year 2030 is that Mexico ranks within the 20% of better evaluated countries by the World Economic Forum.
