The Mexican government patented the first vaccine against heroin, as part of efforts to combat addiction in the country, reported yesterday the national press.
The Health Secretary Salomon Chertorivski made ​​the announcement during a ceremony program called Technology Transfer Network for the Care of Addictions.

This drug, developed a decade ago by the National Institute of Psychiatry, proved effective in tests on mice and in the stage of human clinical trials.

Mexico has already patented the first vaccine against heroin use and we are working for more, said Secretary of Health.
The country has 334 New Life Youth Integration Centers and many other centers as part of the plan against drug abuse.
The program's Technology Transfer Network for the Care of Addictions is developed with the cooperation of U.S. authorities.
