
A struggle between operators of free zones and the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) has established the fact that the latter banned the marketing entity within the national territory of the products from these industrial parks. The measure, according to the collecting agency, seeks enforcement of the Free Zones Act, a provision which will take effect on May 1.
The tax agency, through the office OR-SAT-IA-649-2009, established that users operating under Decree 65-89 "may not export or sell goods to firms located outside the zone", ie Guatemalan firms may not acquire goods originating from the zones.
