The Quetzal recorded an appreciation against the dollar

The expansion of the monetary supply of U.S.A has begun to be reflected in the local market, after a strong period of volatility that was reflected in the quotation of the Quetzal set against the dollar.

After reaching a quotation record of Q8.39 by US$1 in January passed, the quetzal has been appreciated until touching yesterday the Q8.00 by US$1; while in the banks the currency is bought between Q7.85 and Q7.89 by US$1 and is sold in a rank between Q8.07 and Q8.09 to the clients.

For the negotiators of currencies the change of tendency itself due to the interventions of the Bank of Guatemala (Banguat) that entered to sell and to buy dollars in the interbank market, which caused various repercussions in the quotation which already are being moderated and it is expected certain stability.
