The Capuchin monastery and Sor Juana de Maldonado premiere new image. While in the former already completed the restoration work is expected for the second whole process ends in late December.
With this, both buildings will become museums where colonial art and architecture will be shown.
This was made possible through a donation of Q5.8 million from the Taiwan Government. For the Capuchins $ 300 thousand (approximately Q2.5 million) were invested, while Sor Juana de Maldonado, the cost will amount to $ 400 thousand (approximately Q3.3 million).
According to Violeta Hsu, Secretary of Cultural Affairs, of the Taiwan Embassy in Guatemala, the cost includes spending on "materials, labor and payment of architects." According to Hsu, the architectural work started more or less in July 2007, but the renovation work had to be intense.
