Mineco requested authorization of contingent of sugar

The Cabinet of central American Economic Integration (Comieco) knew yesterday the request of Guatemala for the opening of a contingent one of sugar that would be between the 50 and 100 thousand metric tons to cover the increase of the local demand during the next months.

At a meeting via video conference, the Comieco agreed to review the request made by Minister of Economy, Ruben Morales, and allow for consultations within their countries. In addition, information was required on domestic production, consumption and imports sugar that Guatemala has made in the past.
